Taking examination With the SMOWL (Screen Monitoring)

Step 1: Select your exam in VAS. 

 

 

STEP 2: Click to open CAT or Final Exams

 

 

STEP 3: Allow SMOWL to open. Accept the permissions.

SMOWL PERMISSIONS

 

 

When accessing the pre-test page, after you have enabled webcam and microphone permissions in your browser, you must click the checkbox to allow SMOWL to run directly at the start of the exam. Finally, select the Open SMOWL option.

CHECK SMOWL

To ensure that the activity is performed with the best possible guarantees, SMOWL will capture evidence from your computer. Among this evidence, we can highlight screenshots, web browsing, open programs or commands.
You must make sure that SMOWL has been launched correctly. To do this, remember that the SMOWL block will first appear loading and then the computer icon should be navy blue.

SWOML will check if all requirements are met i.e., the camera microphone and the SMOWL software are up and running (Navy blue indicates it’s okay)

NB: Ensure successful SMOWL software launch - the icon will display navy blue

 

 

Step 4: Click "attempt quiz" then "start attempt.".

 

 

Step 5: SMOWL records your activity.

The "end activity" button appears red during monitoring.

NB:

1. The SMOWL tool should be in “activity in progress” mode, and display a red button that indicates END ACTIVITY.

2. Remember that SMOWL will be monitoring and recording all your activities during the exam session.

STEP 6: Click "submit and finish" to end the exam
